With reference to your despatch No. 936
of 14th August, regarding the expropriation of
Chinese tenants in Kowloon City, I have the honour
to inform you that I hended the memorandum enclosed
therein to the Head of the European and American
Department at the Faiahisopu today.
2. In handing the Note to Mr. Liu Shih-shun
I emphasised that no notice fixing the time limit
for evacuation had been issued by the Governor, and
that the inducement offered had been an extremely
generous ono, ɛɛ was shown by the feat that all the
inhrbitents except one had gladly accepted it.
3. Mr. Liu confined his reply to stating that
he would communicate the memorandum to Mr. Wang Ching-
woi.
